The training is designed to inform a diverse audience of advocates about domestic violence, legal advocacy and legal advocacy methods; build and further develop legal advocacy skills by educating the participants on the judicial process; educate advocates on civil and criminal law matters related to domestic violence; and develop the confidence of advocates by empowering them with the tools they need to assist domestic violence survivors with obtaining justice within Arizona’s legal system.

This three hour webinar reviews “Home Visitation Guidelines on Domestic Violence”, a guide created by a Strong Families workgroup in partnership with the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. These guidelines provide support to home visitors on dealing with domestic violence in the families with which they work. Topics will include defining domestic violence, starting the conversation about domestic violence, screening for domestic violence and responding to both positive and negative screenings, making referrals, mandated reporting, documentation, engaging men and fathers, and home visitor safety and self-care. All attendees will be provided with a hard copy of the guidelines and tools for home visitors to use in the home.
Regional trainings are advanced topical trainings held in three or four locations throughout the state. It is highly recommended that attendees have completed the forty hour basic domestic violence advocacy course, The Sharing Experience, or equivalent domestic violence training. Regional trainings are NOT Domestic Violence 101 classes. This year’s topics are: Best Practices for Shelter: Lethality Assessments, Hotline, Screening and Intake; Best Practices for Shelter: Data Collection, Record Keeping and Confidentiality; and Trauma Informed Care for Domestic Violence Providers.
The Board Development Trainings are for domestic and sexual violence program Executive Directors and their board members. We ask that each program that registers send a team of at least one board member, preferably the Board Chair, and the organizations’ executive. The training will cover topics such as board roles, board and ED relationships, board and staff relationships, ethical communication and more!
Community Based Trainings are on-site trainings that vary in length and topic depending on an organization’s needs. Community Based Trainings range from Domestic Violence 101 to advanced topical trainings. Use this form to set-up a community based training.
We believe that an effective public policy and advocacy program is driven by the voices of survivors and service providers. Contact the Coalition to request this informative and fun workshop and help create positive change for those whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence.
ACESDV hosts and co-hosts statewide conferences on sexual and domestic violence as well as related topics.
