On June 14-15, 2016, staff members Yvonne Taylor, Shannon Rich, Alona Del Rosario, and Board member January Contreras will be attending the summit to celebrate the progress our society has made in ensuring equity for women and to dream about next steps for paving the way to a more inclusive society. Experts, advocates, and grassroots and business leaders who work in both domestic and international arenas will gather to highlight key issues affecting women and girls and best practices to carry on into the future.

The summit will focus on the following six pillars:

  1. Economic Empowerment

  3. Educational Opportunity
  4. Violence Against Women
  5. Entrepreneurship & Innovation
  6. Leadership & Civic Engagement

On June 15th, Ms. Taylor, Ms. Rich, and Ms. Contreras will attend Reimagining, Reinvigorating, and Moving Forward To End Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Stalking hosted by the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women, Office of Victims of Crime, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Family Violence Prevention & Services Program. Ms. Del Rosario will join up with Family Values @ Work Advocacy to attend their Paid Sick Days National Days of Action, building support for the Healthy Families Act. Following that, she will attend the Worker Voice Summit: The Power of Women’s Voice, being hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor.
