JOB SUMMARY:

The Arizona Coalition the End Sexual and Domestic Violence (ACESDV) Director of Domestic Initiatives is primarily responsible for providing supervision, leadership and project management for the department that is responsible for training, technical assistance, and support to domestic violence responders and service providers, as well as developing evidence-based training curriculum to serve as best practices for domestic programs in Arizona. The Director guides the innovation and direction of the department, creating new initiatives as needed.

The Director must uphold the mission, vision and guiding principles of ACESDV.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Domestic Violence Response Department’s staff, projects, grants, and efforts.
  • Analyze community feedback and provide strategic direction for ACESDV’s domestic violence work and projects.
  • Guide the provision of technical assistance, support, and training to domestic violence programs, responders, and statewide community partners.
  • Maintain expertise related to domestic violence identification and response through training, study, and collaboration with professionals from across the country.
  • Facilitate workgroups with key stakeholders to develop best practice guidelines for identifying and responding to domestic violence.
  • Analyze systems and support systems advocacy efforts when appropriate and relevant to domestic violence response issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in domestic violence for media, systems, and policy.
  • Research and develop evidence-based curriculum for delivery of domestic violence training.
  • Act as ACESDV’s representative on statewide and regional committees, task forces and at community meetings.
  • Assist with the coordination of ACESDV statewide conferences and training summits.
  • Provide support to and participate in ACESDV’s events.
  • Attend and/or facilitate staff and department meetings.
  • Supervises interns and volunteers.
  • Serve as a member of the organization’s leadership and decision-making team
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required for all candidates:

  • A commitment to the mission, vision and values of ACESDV.

  • A commitment to ending gendered violence and oppression.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, balance team member strengths and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate team building, problem solving, creative/analytic thinking skills, and organization skills.
  • Network-building capabilities, including the ability to do outreach and collaboration with diverse stakeholders related to domestic violence response.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize empirical research to develop resource materials informed by best practices.
  • Public presentation and speaking skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and computer literate.
  • Understanding of nonprofit grant management and metric tracking.

Ideal candidate will have:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in criminal justice, gender/women’s studies, social work, public policy, or related field (additional experience can substitute for education);
  • A minimum of three years of experience in domestic violence direct services, advocacy, or social justice.
  • Experience with providing education or training to adults preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
