End Sexual & Domestic Violence
“Souled Out” Art Exhibition is a vibrant, intuitive and healing art collection that emerged from the lost of my sister Delores to Domestic Violence. A visual diary of expression, healing and emotion mixed with a variety of bold brushstrokes, mark-making and ABSTRACT, SUNFLOWERS and PORTRAITS. These synchronistic images of sunflowers led me to appreciate the harmony between the symbolism of a sunflower and the spirit of my sister. Delores is described as having a carefree, witty, kind, almost hippie style vibe about her that she embraced. In reflection, sunflowers are characterized as a symbol of God’s love and relates to self-respect, authenticity and embracing your own individuality which is what my sister stood for in life. I invited a poet to recite a poem for the night to create an art immersive experience along with community collaboration project.
