Position Available at ACESDV: Sexual Assault Prevention Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Sexual Violence Response Initiatives
The Sexual Assault Prevention Coordinator must have extensive knowledge of the complexities of sexual violence in order to be able to respond safely and effectively when training attendees express personal beliefs and experiences regarding sexual assault. The SAPC needs to be knowledgeable about sexual assault myths and facts, issues of dominance and power, the continuum of sexual behaviors, and the intersection of alcohol and sexual assault. The SAPC also needs to have a thorough understanding of bystander behavior, be adequately equipped to respond should a topic trigger a volatile or painful reaction among attendees, and effectively redirect if a training attendee begins to place the responsibility of preventing sexual aggression/assault on the victim. The Sexual Assault Prevention Coordinator must uphold the mission, vision and guiding principles of ACESDV.
